Modern Bedroom Furniture

Modern Bedroom Furniture: Interior Design Zen

If your bedroom “furniture” is more like a collection of bedroom “artifacts,” it may be time to remodel. Bringing your bedroom into modern times may be as simple as changing the bed frame or as complicated as completely renovating the space, depending of course on your time and budget constraints. But what exactly constitutes “modern bedroom furniture“?

Contemporary bedroom furniture is generally defined by a sparse “less is more” aesthetic, as evident in the simple patterns and subtle shades of most modern furniture. Platform beds, for example, sit low to the ground on a simple frame, often with plenty of storage space underneath. Modern nightstands and dressers also embody this aesthetic philosophy. But just because these furnishings are “simple” does not make them any less elegant. In fact, much of their charm stems from their subtlety and their unassuming nature. A room bedecked with modern bedroom furniture appears cleaner, sleeker, and often brighter than bedrooms with lots of bulky traditional furniture.

The simplicity of this furniture also correlates to its versatility: contemporary furniture can fit in with almost any interior design motif, and you rarely have to worry whether or not your new modern platform bed “matches” your contemporary armoire. This is one of the key differences between modern furniture and antique furniture, which tend to be so over-the-top in terms of design that they rarely look good together unless they are purchased as a “set.” The simple nature of modern furniture design means that your furniture collection can grow and adapt with you; you don’t have to buy it all at once, or risk having dissonant design in your home.
